It’s neat to think about getting a few bucks from the government. If you look at it one way, it’s like, “Free money! I’m going to spend it right away and do my part.” But if you are really afraid that economic turmoil will make things tight where you are, then you might do just the opposite, and save it.

What if the government giving away all that money will do exactly the wrong thing, and instead of stimulating the economy, starve it? What if everybody keeps their rebate in a safe place, and there ends up being less currency available than before?

Well, I guess with supply and demand, the value of the dollar could increase somewhat… But we’d probably just end up printing more. Hmm….
