Recently Fox aired the first part to “The Simpsons’” “Who Shot Mr. Burns” cliffhanger saga. It obviously forces Mr. Burns down an aggressive and dangerous path merely for the sake of the plot, but his actions do seem in accord with the forces behind Big Oil.

First he steals oil from the elementary school, and then he blocks the sun. That way, everybody is dependent on his energy.

Sure, Mr. Burns is a Nuclear Power supplier, but he wants to keep everybody under his thumb. I’ve heard about sabotage behind the development of the electric car, and it seems like parallel forces to what Mr. Burns displays are and have been at work in reality. It’s a shame.
